Release Date: March 28, 2018
Book in Series: #1

When photographer Clarissa Wakanda accepted a multi-week job helping her journalist boss follow an up-and-coming band half the country away, there was no way she could have guessed everything that would happen. Recurring nightmares and getting lost in the woods were definitely not on her to-do list, and neither was the mysterious and moody Rafe Ravenswood, who tries to push her away at every turn.

However, as time passes, Clari finds herself grudgingly attracted to Rafe at the same time it seems someone else has taken to a dangerous game of cat and mouse that has life or death consequences. She must decide who to trust before it’s too late.

Entering Wildwood Excerpt

“Out with it, Toby.  The waiting is more torture than just hearing it!” she cried.

“I have an offer to do an exclusive piece on a new group that’s just breaking out into the mainstream.  It’s a group made up of two sets of brothers who all grew up together.  They aren’t allowing anyone else to work with them, but their fans are very smitten with them.  These guys have amazing voices but so far I’m even more impressed with their ethic and their overall musical abilities.

“This is something we will be working on together, Clari.  I don’t want any of my other writers working on this, and I certainly would prefer to not bring in another photographer.  I want us to work on this as a team. But there’s a part you won’t like, Clari…” his voice trailed off and he looked at her a bit sheepishly.

She raised a perfectly arched eyebrow at him and made a go on motion.

Toby took a deep breath before continuing.  “We have to go to them, Clari.  They aren’t big on traveling outside of what they have to for tours.  They are a bit awestruck by how quickly they’re becoming famous, and are trying to control what they can so it doesn’t go to their heads.”

Clarissa leveled a look at him, her azure and green eyes narrowing.  She didn’t mind local travel, but wasn’t big on anything more than a few hours from home.  Toby knew this and that’s why he was acting this way.

“Where?”

He just looked at her, his blue hazel eyes sparkling.

“Toby, where?  You know I hate traveling and you’re not telling me.  Where is this taking us?”

Toby finally looked away and down at his hands.  “Georgia.”

Clarissa’s voice dropped to a threatening whisper.  “You don’t mean Atlanta, do you, Toby?”

He shook his head.  “No, honey, I don’t.  I mean up in the mountains, near the Appalachian Trail.  They live outside the town of Dahlonega, which is your closest source of civilization.  It has a military college, an Army camp, and a Walmart.  Where the next closest town is over 20 minutes away.   Where the town square looks a lot like it did in the 1800’s.  Where I think we will be just as likely to see someone sitting on a front porch with a banjo as we will be to see someone we’re used to seeing here in the city, if not more so.

“If you’re going to come with me, I suggest you try sweet tea and some grits.”  His eyes sparkled with humor.  “We’re used to April still being pretty close to winter up here, but down there it’s already spring.  Full force.  And from what their guy Mat is telling me, it’s unusually warm as well, so bring a bathing suit; maybe a dress or two as we’re likely to be going to some things with them.”

“You’re talking like I’ve already agreed to go.”   Her voice was flat, even to her ears.

“Well, yes, you’re right.  I have.  That’s because, despite your hatred of travel, and hatred of the country, real country, I also know you hate winter, which has been pretty rough here this year.  Not to mention the fact you love a good story as much as I do.  Then, add in the fact that these guys are hot as hell and talented, and I think I’ve got you hooked.  Am I wrong?”

β€œDamn you, Toby.  Damn you so hard.  Am I that much of an open book to you?  Yes, I’m in.  Damnit.”
